9th European workshop on Lipid mediators in Edinburgh

Fleur  and Flore recently attended the 9th European workshop on Lipid mediators in Edinburgh, where leading researchers gathered to discuss the latest advancements in biochemistry, molecular biology and physiology of lipids as signaling molecules, as well as their involvement in inflammation, and their specific roles in several disease conditions.

FWO grants 2023

The BogieLab celebrates not one, not two, not three, but 4 FWO grants to conclude the year 2023. First of all, we celebrate Sam, since he received an FWO junior Post-doctoral fellowship.

Next up, a big congratulations to Brecht and Koen for receiving their FWO PhD Fellowship. Finally, Huge congrats also to Jeroen Bogie for receiving FWO funding for his project.

GERLI lipidomics meeting - Paris

Multiple members of the Bogie Lab went to the 18th annual GERLI meeting. During these 3 days, Both Jeroen B and Jeroen G presented their work. A very interesting meeting filled with a broad spectrum of fundamental lipidomics research.

Best Thesis Award - MS Research days 2024

To further build on his success, we congratulate our Post-doctoral researcher Sam Vanherle on achieving the 'Best Thesis Award' at the MS research days 2024 Genk for his study on the fundamental role of lipids in MS pathology. Well done!

Extracellular vesicles in brain regeneration + 2 inflammasome reviews accepted

Our research paper on the regenerative role of extracellular vesicles on macrophage function in the brain, as well as two reviews on inflammasome activation in autoinflammatory disorders and pyrin inflammasome activation have been accepted. Congratulations to all researchers for these milestones, especially Sam, Jeroen G and Flore.

Travel Grant Hangzhou (China)

Jeroen Guns has been awarded a travel grant to embark on a three-month external research visit at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China, starting at the end of February 2024. During this period, he will leverage genetically modified animals to investigate the influence of protein acetylation on phagocyte function and central nervous system remyelination in experimental models of multiple sclerosis.

The man, the myth, the legend, Sam Vanherle, succesfully defended his thesis, entitled "Lipids in control of remyelination in multiple sclerosis", today. Congrats Sam!

Our manuscript, entitled "Fatty acid desaturation by SCD1 controls regulatory T cell differentiation and autoimmunity" was accepted in CMI today. Congrats to everybody involved!
